CVSS v3.1 |
| A flaw was found in GIMP. When processing a specially crafted GIMPressionist preset file, the plug-in does not properly validate vector indices before writing into fixed-size arrays. This can lead to an out-of-bounds write, corrupting memory. An attacker could exploit this by convincing a user to load a malicious preset file, potentially causing a crash or enabling arbitrary code execution. |
| A flaw was found in GIMP's ICO file loader. When processing an ICO file containing an embedded PNG image, an integer overflow can occur during the calculation of the required buffer size. This leads to an undersized buffer being allocated, causing a heap-based buffer overflow when the decoded pixel data is written. A remote attacker could exploit this by crafting a malicious ICO file, which, when opened, could lead to arbitrary code execution or a crash. |
| A flaw was found in GIMP. When processing a specially crafted lighting preset file, the Lighting Effects filter does not properly validate the number of light sources. This can lead to an out-of-bounds write, corrupting memory. An attacker could exploit this by convincing a user to open a malicious preset file, potentially causing a crash or enabling arbitrary code execution. |
| A memory corruption vulnerability in the QMqttClient class of the Qt MQTT module. Under certain MQTT 5 connection settings between client and server, QMqttClient may corrupt memory, which can cause the application to crash. |
| In Modem, there is a possible out of bounds write due to a missing bounds check. This could lead to remote escalation of privilege, if a UE has connected to a rogue base station controlled by the attacker, with no additional execution privileges needed. User interaction is not needed for exploitation. Patch ID: MOLY01879158 / MOLY01774038; Issue ID: MSV-9811. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
spi: imx: fix slab corruption from undersized DMA bounce buffers
Since commit faa8e404ad8e ("spi: imx: support dynamic burst length for
ECSPI DMA mode"), the driver allocates its private DMA TX/RX buffers
with kzalloc(dma_len), where dma_len is only rounded up to 4 bytes, but
maps, syncs and unmaps them with DMA_CACHE_ALIGNED_LEN(dma_len), i.e.
rounded up to the cache line size. As a result, the DMA API operates on
memory beyond the end of the allocation.
This was observed on a custom i.MX8MP platform with an mcp251xfd CAN
controller under heavy RPMSG load, as a series of refcount_t warnings
triggered from rpmsg_recv_done() in virtio_rpmsg_bus:
refcount_t: addition on 0; use-after-free.
refcount_t: underflow; use-after-free.
refcount_t: saturated; leaking memory.
Leading finally to an "Unable to handle kernel paging request" oops.
Reproducing this problem took between 30 minutes and roughly 30 hours
under the same workload.
Hardware watchpoints on the refcount of a struct rpmsg_endpoint showed
it was overwritten from 2 to 1 by __pi_memcpy_generic() in the
irq/155-spi2.0 thread. Additionally it was found that a "normal"
rpmsg_recv_done() took 11µs +/-2µs from its kref_get to kref_put. In
the error case the same sequence took about 215µs +/-10µs. Based on
this, an LLM was used to identify the size mismatch fixed here.
Allocate the buffers with DMA_CACHE_ALIGNED_LEN(dma_len) so they cover
the full mapped length, and use the same length for
dma_sync_single_for_cpu() to stay consistent with map and unmap.
With this patch applied, the same workload ran for more than 200 hours
without the problem reproducing. |
| GNU mtools before 4.0.50 has an out-of-bounds write in parse_vses in vfat.c. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tracing: Keep the predicate limit separate from program capacity
predicate_parse() adds two to nr_preds to reserve the terminal TRUE
and FALSE entries. It also uses that increased value as the limit for
parsed predicates. If the initial count is smaller than the number
actually parsed, the program can fill the allocation and subsequent
accesses can go past its end.
Keep nr_preds as the predicate limit and use a separate value for the
allocation size. This leaves space for both terminal entries and a
zeroed entry when parsing stops at the limit. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
smb: client: fix heap overflow in cifs_do_set_acl()
cifs_set_acl() validates ACL size using posix_acl_xattr_size():
4 + (count * 8) // 4-byte header + 8 bytes per ACE
cifs_do_set_acl() then calls posix_acl_to_cifs() to write the CIFS
wire format into the same buffer:
6 + (count * 10) // 6-byte header + 10 bytes per ACE
An ACL that passes the xattr-based check in cifs_set_acl() can
overflow the heap when posix_acl_to_cifs() writes the larger CIFS
format.
Validate the CIFS format size against the remaining buffer space and
USHRT_MAX before converting--data_count is __u16, so sizes above
USHRT_MAX truncate the on-wire packet length, causing the server to
apply a partial ACL. Replace MaxDataCount = 1000 with
min(CIFSMaxBufSize, USHRT_MAX). |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
tracing: Check operator stack capacity before pushing
predicate_parse() uses the first operator stack entry before processing
any opening parentheses. A push then increments top before writing.
The existing check still permits that write when top already points to
the last allocated entry, which can access beyond the operator stack.
Reject the push when top reaches the last allocated entry. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
ntfs: fix incorrect MFT record pointer passed to ntfs_attr_record_resize
ntfs_new_attr_flags() passes the wrong MFT record to ntfs_attr_record_resize().
When the attribute is in an extent record, ctx->mrec points to the extent
but the function receives the base record pointer m, causing incorrect
size calculations in memmove.
Fix by passing ctx->mrec (the actual MFT record containing the attribute)
instead of m (the base MFT record) to ntfs_attr_record_resize(). |
| A flaw was found in GCC libstdc++. When an application extracts data into a bitset from a wide-character stream, internal stack memory allocation fails to properly account for character size and alignment. An attacker capable of supplying crafted input to an affected application could trigger a stack-based buffer overflow leading denial of service (DoS). |
| DevilutionX 1.4.0 through 1.5.5 contains a heap buffer overflow vulnerability in the bundled libmpq libmpq__archive_dup routine when opening crafted MPQ archives. Attackers can supply an MPQ archive whose block table count exceeds its hash table count, causing memcpy to overflow the heap during startup and crash the game. |
| FLTK through 1.4.5 contains an integer overflow vulnerability in Fl_BMP_Image::load_bmp_() that causes undersized pixel buffer allocation from file-supplied width and height. Attackers can supply a crafted BMP or ICO file with large dimensions so row decoding writes file-derived data past the heap buffer, corrupting the application heap. |

| A flaw was found in dnsmasq. After a reduction of internal domain-name buffer sizes, the DNSSEC validator can write a few bytes past a name buffer when converting names to and from DNS wire format. An attacker who can cause the server to validate a crafted DNSSEC response may overwrite a small amount of adjacent heap metadata. DNSSEC support is not compiled in by default and must also be enabled at runtime. |
| libass is a portable subtitle renderer for the ASS/SSA (Advanced Substation Alpha/Substation Alpha) subtitle format. From 0.17.4 until 0.17.5, libass event pruning does not guard negative Matroska `ReadOrder` values, allowing an attacker to clear arbitrarily many bits to zero at attacker-controlled positions near the NULL pointer. Exploitation requires a malicious Matroska stream loaded through `ass_process_chunk`, enabled read-order checking, and later pruning of the malicious events. Read-order checking is enabled by default unless `ass_set_check_readorder` is called with zero; pruning must occur explicitly through `ass_prune_events` or through automatic pruning previously enabled with `ass_configure_prune`. On common systems with arithmetic right shift, 32-bit int values, the upper address region reserved to the kernel, and matching binary/kernel architecture, the expected consequence is denial of service. More extensive exploitation on uncommon systems is theoretical and strongly constrained by the target addresses, bit-clearing-only mutation, and ASLR. This issue is fixed in version 0.17.5. |
| libass is a portable subtitle renderer for the `ASS`/SSA (Advanced Substation Alpha/Substation Alpha) subtitle format. Prior to 0.17.5, libass can overread and overwrite the glyph array in `wrap_lines_measure` while rendering malicious `ASS` content. In `wrap modes other than two`, a final line ending with a literal backslash-n sequence and otherwise consisting only of such sequences or spaces can remain after early trimming and make the line-measurement loops overshoot by one glyph. When the total text size exactly matches the allocated glyph-array capacity, the first loop reads an uninitialized 32-bit fixed-point `pos.x` value, although that value is not subsequently used. The second loop writes `pos.x` and `pos.y` beyond the array, zeroing the first and adding an attacker-controllable offset to the second. No actual exploitation beyond possible denial of service is known; broader exploitation is theoretical and constrained by the addresses, limited writes, and ASLR. This issue is fixed in version 0.17.5. |
| Scribus before 1.6.7 contains a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the scimgdataloader_psd loader that uses unchecked PSD file values as lookup array indexes. Attackers can convince users to place or import a crafted PSD file to corrupt heap memory, causing crashes and potentially code execution as the user. |
| Scribus before 1.6.7 contains a heap buffer overflow vulnerability in the PICT image loader and import plugin that allows attackers to corrupt heap memory by supplying an unchecked bytesPerLine value. Attackers can craft a PICT file whose bytesPerLine exceeds the QImage scanline size, so placing or importing it crashes Scribus and may execute code as the user. |
